O nadador mineiro Gabriel Ara\u00fajo, o Gabrielzinho, concorre ao Pr\u00eamio Laureus de Melhor Atleta com Defici\u00eancia nesta segunda-feira (20). O pr\u00eamio ser\u00e1 anunciado no Pal\u00e1cio de Cibeles, em Madri, na Espanha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O vencedor ser\u00e1 escolhido por um painel especializado, com membros do Comit\u00ea Paral\u00edmpico Internacional (IPC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O nadador de 23 anos conquistou tr\u00eas ouros no Mundial de Singapura 2025, nas provas de 100 metros (m) costas, 200m livre e 50m costas, todas disputas pela classe S2 (comprometimento f\u00edsico-motor).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c9 dele tamb\u00e9m o recorde mundial dos 150m medley S2, obtido tamb\u00e9m em Singapura, com o tempo de 3min16s26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Atleta do Praia Clube, Gabrielzinho soma seis medalhas paral\u00edmpicas: tr\u00eas ouros conquistados em Paris 2024, e dois ouros e uma prata em T\u00f3quio 2020.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concorrentes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ao lado do mineiro, concorrem ao pr\u00eamio outros cinco atletas, dois deles nadadores: o italiano Simone Barlaam, da classe S9 (limita\u00e7\u00f5es f\u00edsico-motoras), e o tcheco David Kratochv\u00edl, da classe S11 (defici\u00eancia visual). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duas atletas do atletismo tamb\u00e9m foram indicadas: a su\u00ed\u00e7a Catherine Debrunner, da classe T53\/54 (cadeirantes), e a equatoriana Kiara Rodr\u00edguez, da classe T47 (defici\u00eancia nos membros superiores).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Al\u00e9m deles, a norte-americana Kelsey DiClaudio, do h\u00f3quei em cadeira de rodas, tamb\u00e9m est\u00e1 entre os indicados.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O Pr\u00eamio Laureus est\u00e1 em sua 26\u00aa edi\u00e7\u00e3o, e o ex-nadador paral\u00edmpico Daniel Dias j\u00e1 figurou no hall de campe\u00f5es do que \u00e9 considerado o \u201cOscar do Esporte\u201d.
